George Steinbrenner Passes Away

Most of you know George Steinbrenner as the Yankees big boss, whether you know this from following the Yankees or if you are just an avid Seinfeld viewer. George Steinbrenner was born in 1930 and was 80 years of age when he passed away from a massive heart attack.

There are many stories that come to mind when I think of the Yankees owner. Back in the day if the Yankees had lost a couple of games in a row, or their star players were underperforming, Steinbrenner would cuss them out in public, then cuss out the reporters who were reporting the story, and then cuss out his head coaches. Basically there was a long pattern of cussing and threats of moving the Yankees or trading players for land when they were losing games. Whatever Steinbrenner’s ownership methods were, they obviously worked.

It is no fluke that the New York Yankees are one of the, if not thee most recognizable and successful teams in professional sports and that is mostly due to their architect, George Steinbrenner, also referred to as, “The Boss”. The New York Yankees are currently favored at 3/1 betting odds to win the World Series as per the Bodog.com online sportsbook which I hope they do for George.
