Albert Contador News

3-time Tour De France winner, Albert Contador, tested positive for a banned substance. Contador’s rebuttal is that he tested positive because of a steak he ate days prior. This sounds like the story of the girl who claimed she got pregnant from eating fish.

Experts have come to his defense, saying that the drug Contador is being accused of taking, clenbuterol, is often illegally given to cows to make them bigger. Contador is vowing to clear his name so that this latest scandal does not take away from his great accomplishments.

When Contador was asked on his stance regarding the matter he had this to say, “I vow to clear my name and prove my innocence and not to let this scandal destroy everything that I have done.”

Contador went on to say, “The UCI itself told me to my face that it was a case of food contamination.”

Whether the use of this banned substance was accidental or on purpose, in all likelihood the UCI is going to take the most recent Tour De France victory away from Albert Contador.

New York Yankees Clinch Playoff Berth

The infamous New York Yankees have officially clinched a playoff spot for the 2010 MLB playoff race. Just minutes ago the Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 6-1.

With C.C Sabathia as the Yankees pitcher winning his 21st game with the Yankees this season, the Yankees are on their way to their 15th playoff appearance in the last 16 years.

Sabathia is 21-7 this season and allowed only one run and three hits against the Jays today. Sabathia has matched Andy Pettitte’s 21 wins in 1996 and 2003 for the most wins by a Yankee since Ron Guidry went 22-6 in 1985. These are pretty impressive numbers for a team that MLB fans love to hate.

New York Yankees Betting Odds

The Yankees are currently sitting at 8/5 betting odds to win the AL Championship and 3/1 betting odds to win the 2010 MLB World Series.
Although many online betting players hate to bet on a favorite so big, especially when it is the New York Yankees, but if you are looking to make a quick buck betting online, take the New York Yankees at 3/1 betting odds to win the 2010 World Series.

Phillies Claim NL East for Fourth Straight Year

With Roy Halladay on the mound, the Philadelphia Phillies claimed the National League East Title for the fourth straight year in a row in a win over the Washington Nationals. This win was especially special for Halladay as it was his 21st with the Phillies, and marks the first time he will be going into the MLB playoffs.

The Phillies were at 1/1 betting odds to win the NL East at the start of this season.

MLB World Series Betting Odds

Now that the Philadelphia Phillies have clinched a playoff spot, they are mentally preparing themselves for the MLB World Series in which they are currently sitting at 11/4 betting odds to win.

The heavy favorites to win the MLB World Series are the New York Yankees who are currently sitting at 3/1 betting odds.

After the Yankees, the next best bet to win the MLB World Series are the Tampa Bay Devil Rays are 4/1 betting odds who are predicted to clinch the wildcard divisional spot on Tuesday.

Miami Heat Media Day

Lebron James is taking names and kicking a$$. At the first day of the Miami Heat Media Day, Lebron James was asked what he thought of Michael Jordan’s comments along with those comments made by Charles Barkley, and Magic Johnson.

Lebron’s reply was short and sweet, “I have a list of every name and comment made over the summer.”

Either Lebron is planning to toilet paper the houses of all his naysayers, or he is planning on winning, winning a lot this season. Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade are also backing him up and predicting a dominating season for the Miami Heat.

Miami Heat Betting Odds

Betting Odds for the Miami Heat to win the NBA Finals are currently set at 7/4. Nobody knows for sure what is going to happen this NBA season, but I do predict it will be one of the most watched. Before this season even starts we already have a 3-way rivalry between the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers.

Carmelo Anthony Trade

With all of the offseason kafuffle in the NBA this Summer, many forgot about Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets and his contract woes. A Summer full of news about Lebron James, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant, and you can see how the mild tempered Carmelo might stay below the radar.

Now that Spring training camp in the NBA is only a couple of days from tipping off, rumors of Carmelo Anthony wanting a trade are starting to surface.

Denver Nuggets Betting Odds

Betting odds for the Denver Nuggets to win the NBA Finals Championships are currently sitting at 30/1 for this season. These betting odds will undoubtedly change as Carmelo Anthony makes his decision regarding a contract extension.

Current reports are speculating that the Nuggets have offered Carmelo Anthony a 3-year extension for $65 Million; however Anthony is unwilling to sign as he would prefer to be traded by next season.

If the Nuggets cannot sign Anthony by the end of this year, he will walk away as a free agent like Chris Bosh did with the Raptors, leaving the Nuggets with no trade bait.

Yankees Lead AL East Division

It took extra innings, but the New York Yankees got it done tonight and beat the Tampa Bay Rays in overtime to reclaim the AL East Division lead. Based on last night’s game, everyone was expecting tonight’s game to be a pitching duel; instead it turned out to be a slugfest.

The Yankees’ Jorge Posada hit a homerun in the 10th inning when the Yanks needed it the most. Posada’s homerun now gives the Yankees a one game lead in the standings.

The Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees will meet another 5 times before the regular season comes to a close.

Tampa Bay Rays – 87 Wins, 57 Losses
Boston Red Sox – 81 Wins, 64 Losses

As you can see from the above AL East standings, the Yankees and Rays are neck-and-neck.

Rafael Nadal Grand Slams

What a year for the Spaniards, first they win the World Cup, then Albert Contador captures his third Tour De France and now Rafael Nadal grand slams at the U.S. Open.

Nadal beat out Serbian, Novak Djokovic, in a match that lasted more than 3 hours and was delayed several times due to rain. Only at the young age of 24, Rafael Nadal became the 3rd youngest man in to U.S. Open to have won an Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.

Rafael Nadal News

After taking the customary bite out of the trophy Nadal had this to say, “It feels like for the first time in my life I played a very good match in this tournament, better than I expected. I worked a lot my whole career to be here, and I still cannot believe I would have 4 Grand Slams.”
Now Nadal is expected to take some time away from tennis, possibly focusing on dating models and doing endorsements for male hygiene products.

Francisco Rodriguez Charged

If it isn’t something to do with steroids, it’s something to do with women. Francisco Rodriguez, closing pitcher for the New York Mets, just violated the terms of his restraining order by sending an excess of 57 text messages in the last two weeks to his girlfriend.

Now you might be wondering what caused the restraining order. Well the good news is that Rodriguez did not beat his girlfriend, but he did beat her father. The beating took place outside a family lounge at Citi Field.

New York Betting Odds

The future does not look too bright for the New York Mets and if Francisco is charged, or has to serve jail time they will have absolutely no chance to make the playoffs.

Next up for the Mets is a series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Starting pitcher for the Mets will be R.A. Dickey, and for the Pirates we have Zach Duke.

The Mets are currently favored at -1 ½ runs (+105) at the Betus.com online sportsbook.

Basketball World Championship

For the first time in 16 years, Team USA won gold in the Basketball World Championships. This year’s Basketball World Championships were in Istanbul, Turkey.

Turkey, the home team, were of course the fan favorites and they surprised everyone by making it to the gold medal game. Hedo Turkoglu scored 16 points in an 81-64 loss to the United States. Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder was the tournament series MVP.

Kevin Durant News

After leading Team USA to their first gold medal victory in the Basketball World Championships in the last 16 years, Kevin Durant had a lot to say on the matter. Durant, who scored 28 points, was offended that reporters were calling this US team the “B-Team”, in reference to superstar NBA players Lebron James, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett opting to not play in the tournament.

When asked about his thoughts on the win, Durant had this to say, “We played some of the best players in the world this tournament and most of these players have been playing together on the same team for the last few years. We only had a few weeks to gel as a team and we did it!”

Durant’s high is sure to come to an end once he goes back home and realizes he still plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder who are currently favored at to win 16/1 betting odds to win the NBA Finals.

Wozniacki vs. Zvonareva

Caroline Wozniacki (#1 seed) and Vera Zvonareva (#7 seed) will meet in the Women’s U.S. Open Semi-finals this week to battle it out for their shot at the U.S. Open. Wozniacki is currently listed as the favorite at -400 betting odds at Sportsbook.com.
For Wozniacki, the journey to this semi-finals match against Zvonareva had a minor speed bump. Wozniacki, who barely ever loses your cool when playing, almost blew her top off in an heated debate with an official who asked her to play a point over. When I say blew her top, I mean figuratively, not literally so you don’t have to go onto YouTube searching for the video!

U.S. Open Betting Odds

The U.S. Open is just a few days away and online sports bettors are rushing to get their picks in. This will be Rafael Nadal’s 3rd straight appearance in the U.S. Open semi finals and this amazing accomplishment has not been lost on him.

“I am excited for this match as I was for my first U.S. Open semi’s. I’m very familiar with Mikhail and I know we will put on a great show for the viewers.”

Nadal vs. Youzhny

Rafael Nadal, the #2 seed in the world, and Mikhail Youzhny will meet each other in the U.S. Open semi-final where the winner will then advance onto the U.S. Open Finals.

Betting odds for this match opened at -1400 for Nadal who is an overwhelming favorite. It is pretty evident this is going to be a no-brainer. Although Nadal has never made it to the Flushing Meadows Finals, his coaches and sports handicappers are predicting this to be the year he does make it.

Dustin Byfuglien Plays Defense

Many of our NFL betting followers are familiar with Dustin Byfuglien, especially if you are from Chicago or Vancouver. Depending on where you watch the games, Byfuglien is either a fan favorite or a disgusting excuse for a hockey player.

Byfuglien played defense for the Chicago Blackhawks the previous two seasons, but was moved up to forward for the playoffs. His massive stature, 6’4 245 pounds, provided a huge distraction for goalies and he was a very significant piece of the puzzle in the Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup.

Byfuglien Signs With Thrashers

After just weeks of winning the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks, Byfuglien was released and picked up by the Atlanta Thrashers. The Thrashers just recently announced that they will use Byfuglien’s talents on defense for the time being.

I’m sure once the Thrashers find themselves in a desperate situation; they will undoubtedly move Byfuglien up to offence.
If you would like to bet on the Thrashers or any other major sports betting even, check out Sportsbook.com today!
