Yankees Lead AL East Division

It took extra innings, but the New York Yankees got it done tonight and beat the Tampa Bay Rays in overtime to reclaim the AL East Division lead. Based on last night’s game, everyone was expecting tonight’s game to be a pitching duel; instead it turned out to be a slugfest.

The Yankees’ Jorge Posada hit a homerun in the 10th inning when the Yanks needed it the most. Posada’s homerun now gives the Yankees a one game lead in the standings.

The Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees will meet another 5 times before the regular season comes to a close.

AL East Standings

New York Yankees – 88 Wins, 57 Losses
Tampa Bay Rays – 87 Wins, 57 Losses
Boston Red Sox – 81 Wins, 64 Losses
Toronto Bluejays – 73 Wins, 72 Losses
Baltimore Orioles – 57 Wins, 88 Losses

As you can see from the above AL East standings, the Yankees and Rays are neck-and-neck.

Tampa Bay Rays are 21/10 betting odds to win AL Championship and the New York Yankees are sitting at 3/2 betting odds to win AL Championship.
