Albert Contador News

3-time Tour De France winner, Albert Contador, tested positive for a banned substance. Contador’s rebuttal is that he tested positive because of a steak he ate days prior. This sounds like the story of the girl who claimed she got pregnant from eating fish.

Experts have come to his defense, saying that the drug Contador is being accused of taking, clenbuterol, is often illegally given to cows to make them bigger. Contador is vowing to clear his name so that this latest scandal does not take away from his great accomplishments.

When Contador was asked on his stance regarding the matter he had this to say, “I vow to clear my name and prove my innocence and not to let this scandal destroy everything that I have done.”

Contador went on to say, “The UCI itself told me to my face that it was a case of food contamination.”

Whether the use of this banned substance was accidental or on purpose, in all likelihood the UCI is going to take the most recent Tour De France victory away from Albert Contador.

New York Yankees Clinch Playoff Berth

The infamous New York Yankees have officially clinched a playoff spot for the 2010 MLB playoff race. Just minutes ago the Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 6-1.

With C.C Sabathia as the Yankees pitcher winning his 21st game with the Yankees this season, the Yankees are on their way to their 15th playoff appearance in the last 16 years.

Sabathia is 21-7 this season and allowed only one run and three hits against the Jays today. Sabathia has matched Andy Pettitte’s 21 wins in 1996 and 2003 for the most wins by a Yankee since Ron Guidry went 22-6 in 1985. These are pretty impressive numbers for a team that MLB fans love to hate.

New York Yankees Betting Odds

The Yankees are currently sitting at 8/5 betting odds to win the AL Championship and 3/1 betting odds to win the 2010 MLB World Series.
Although many online betting players hate to bet on a favorite so big, especially when it is the New York Yankees, but if you are looking to make a quick buck betting online, take the New York Yankees at 3/1 betting odds to win the 2010 World Series.

Phillies Claim NL East for Fourth Straight Year

With Roy Halladay on the mound, the Philadelphia Phillies claimed the National League East Title for the fourth straight year in a row in a win over the Washington Nationals. This win was especially special for Halladay as it was his 21st with the Phillies, and marks the first time he will be going into the MLB playoffs.

The Phillies were at 1/1 betting odds to win the NL East at the start of this season.

MLB World Series Betting Odds

Now that the Philadelphia Phillies have clinched a playoff spot, they are mentally preparing themselves for the MLB World Series in which they are currently sitting at 11/4 betting odds to win.

The heavy favorites to win the MLB World Series are the New York Yankees who are currently sitting at 3/1 betting odds.

After the Yankees, the next best bet to win the MLB World Series are the Tampa Bay Devil Rays are 4/1 betting odds who are predicted to clinch the wildcard divisional spot on Tuesday.

Miami Heat Media Day

Lebron James is taking names and kicking a$$. At the first day of the Miami Heat Media Day, Lebron James was asked what he thought of Michael Jordan’s comments along with those comments made by Charles Barkley, and Magic Johnson.

Lebron’s reply was short and sweet, “I have a list of every name and comment made over the summer.”

Either Lebron is planning to toilet paper the houses of all his naysayers, or he is planning on winning, winning a lot this season. Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade are also backing him up and predicting a dominating season for the Miami Heat.

Miami Heat Betting Odds

Betting Odds for the Miami Heat to win the NBA Finals are currently set at 7/4. Nobody knows for sure what is going to happen this NBA season, but I do predict it will be one of the most watched. Before this season even starts we already have a 3-way rivalry between the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers.

Carmelo Anthony Trade

With all of the offseason kafuffle in the NBA this Summer, many forgot about Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets and his contract woes. A Summer full of news about Lebron James, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant, and you can see how the mild tempered Carmelo might stay below the radar.

Now that Spring training camp in the NBA is only a couple of days from tipping off, rumors of Carmelo Anthony wanting a trade are starting to surface.

Denver Nuggets Betting Odds

Betting odds for the Denver Nuggets to win the NBA Finals Championships are currently sitting at 30/1 for this season. These betting odds will undoubtedly change as Carmelo Anthony makes his decision regarding a contract extension.

Current reports are speculating that the Nuggets have offered Carmelo Anthony a 3-year extension for $65 Million; however Anthony is unwilling to sign as he would prefer to be traded by next season.

If the Nuggets cannot sign Anthony by the end of this year, he will walk away as a free agent like Chris Bosh did with the Raptors, leaving the Nuggets with no trade bait.

Yankees Lead AL East Division

It took extra innings, but the New York Yankees got it done tonight and beat the Tampa Bay Rays in overtime to reclaim the AL East Division lead. Based on last night’s game, everyone was expecting tonight’s game to be a pitching duel; instead it turned out to be a slugfest.

The Yankees’ Jorge Posada hit a homerun in the 10th inning when the Yanks needed it the most. Posada’s homerun now gives the Yankees a one game lead in the standings.

The Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees will meet another 5 times before the regular season comes to a close.

Tampa Bay Rays – 87 Wins, 57 Losses
Boston Red Sox – 81 Wins, 64 Losses

Rafael Nadal Grand Slams

What a year for the Spaniards, first they win the World Cup, then Albert Contador captures his third Tour De France and now Rafael Nadal grand slams at the U.S. Open.

Nadal beat out Serbian, Novak Djokovic, in a match that lasted more than 3 hours and was delayed several times due to rain. Only at the young age of 24, Rafael Nadal became the 3rd youngest man in to U.S. Open to have won an Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.

Rafael Nadal News

After taking the customary bite out of the trophy Nadal had this to say, “It feels like for the first time in my life I played a very good match in this tournament, better than I expected. I worked a lot my whole career to be here, and I still cannot believe I would have 4 Grand Slams.”
Now Nadal is expected to take some time away from tennis, possibly focusing on dating models and doing endorsements for male hygiene products.

Francisco Rodriguez Charged

If it isn’t something to do with steroids, it’s something to do with women. Francisco Rodriguez, closing pitcher for the New York Mets, just violated the terms of his restraining order by sending an excess of 57 text messages in the last two weeks to his girlfriend.

Now you might be wondering what caused the restraining order. Well the good news is that Rodriguez did not beat his girlfriend, but he did beat her father. The beating took place outside a family lounge at Citi Field.

New York Betting Odds

The future does not look too bright for the New York Mets and if Francisco is charged, or has to serve jail time they will have absolutely no chance to make the playoffs.

Next up for the Mets is a series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Starting pitcher for the Mets will be R.A. Dickey, and for the Pirates we have Zach Duke.

The Mets are currently favored at -1 ½ runs (+105) at the Betus.com online sportsbook.

Basketball World Championship

For the first time in 16 years, Team USA won gold in the Basketball World Championships. This year’s Basketball World Championships were in Istanbul, Turkey.

Turkey, the home team, were of course the fan favorites and they surprised everyone by making it to the gold medal game. Hedo Turkoglu scored 16 points in an 81-64 loss to the United States. Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder was the tournament series MVP.

Kevin Durant News

After leading Team USA to their first gold medal victory in the Basketball World Championships in the last 16 years, Kevin Durant had a lot to say on the matter. Durant, who scored 28 points, was offended that reporters were calling this US team the “B-Team”, in reference to superstar NBA players Lebron James, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett opting to not play in the tournament.

When asked about his thoughts on the win, Durant had this to say, “We played some of the best players in the world this tournament and most of these players have been playing together on the same team for the last few years. We only had a few weeks to gel as a team and we did it!”

Durant’s high is sure to come to an end once he goes back home and realizes he still plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder who are currently favored at to win 16/1 betting odds to win the NBA Finals.

Wozniacki vs. Zvonareva

Caroline Wozniacki (#1 seed) and Vera Zvonareva (#7 seed) will meet in the Women’s U.S. Open Semi-finals this week to battle it out for their shot at the U.S. Open. Wozniacki is currently listed as the favorite at -400 betting odds at Sportsbook.com.
For Wozniacki, the journey to this semi-finals match against Zvonareva had a minor speed bump. Wozniacki, who barely ever loses your cool when playing, almost blew her top off in an heated debate with an official who asked her to play a point over. When I say blew her top, I mean figuratively, not literally so you don’t have to go onto YouTube searching for the video!

U.S. Open Betting Odds

The U.S. Open is just a few days away and online sports bettors are rushing to get their picks in. This will be Rafael Nadal’s 3rd straight appearance in the U.S. Open semi finals and this amazing accomplishment has not been lost on him.

“I am excited for this match as I was for my first U.S. Open semi’s. I’m very familiar with Mikhail and I know we will put on a great show for the viewers.”

Nadal vs. Youzhny

Rafael Nadal, the #2 seed in the world, and Mikhail Youzhny will meet each other in the U.S. Open semi-final where the winner will then advance onto the U.S. Open Finals.

Betting odds for this match opened at -1400 for Nadal who is an overwhelming favorite. It is pretty evident this is going to be a no-brainer. Although Nadal has never made it to the Flushing Meadows Finals, his coaches and sports handicappers are predicting this to be the year he does make it.

Dustin Byfuglien Plays Defense

Many of our NFL betting followers are familiar with Dustin Byfuglien, especially if you are from Chicago or Vancouver. Depending on where you watch the games, Byfuglien is either a fan favorite or a disgusting excuse for a hockey player.

Byfuglien played defense for the Chicago Blackhawks the previous two seasons, but was moved up to forward for the playoffs. His massive stature, 6’4 245 pounds, provided a huge distraction for goalies and he was a very significant piece of the puzzle in the Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup.

Byfuglien Signs With Thrashers

After just weeks of winning the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks, Byfuglien was released and picked up by the Atlanta Thrashers. The Thrashers just recently announced that they will use Byfuglien’s talents on defense for the time being.

I’m sure once the Thrashers find themselves in a desperate situation; they will undoubtedly move Byfuglien up to offence.
If you would like to bet on the Thrashers or any other major sports betting even, check out Sportsbook.com today!

Aroldis Chapman Stats

The Cincinnati Reds, who are one of the front runners to win the 2010 World Series at 9/1 betting odds, are hoping that their rookie sensation, Aroldis Chapman, can step in right away in his MLB debut and make a difference.

After the Washington Nationals’ rookie of the year candidate Stephen Strasburg suffered an injury earlier this season, all eyes have been on Aroldis Chapman and many are already crowning him rookie of the year.

Cincinnati Reds Betting Odds

Although Aroldis Chapman was playing in the minors for the Cincinnati Reds, they’ve called him up now so that he can be eligible to play in the MLB playoffs for the Reds. Many are betting that the Cincinnati Reds are going to have a long playoff run this year and that is why they will need all the bodies they can get to endure the long run. The Sportsbook.com online sportsbook currently as the Reds favored at 9/2 to win the National League and 16/1 to win the National League Wild Card.

Florida Gators 9/1 betting odds
Alabama Crimson Tide 4/1 betting odds
Boise State Broncos 8/1 betting odds

Antti Niemi Trade

The San Jose Sharks have signed former Chicago Blackhawks goalie, Antti Niemi, to a one year deal worth a little over $2 million. As many San Jose Sharks fans are quick to remember, Antti Niemi was the sole reason why the Chicago Blackhawks kicked the San Jose Sharks out of the playoffs last spring, and took the Blackhawks to a Stanley Cup victory.

Although Niemi was only suppose to be a backup goalie for the Chicago Blackhawks last season, he went on to get 7 shutouts, an astounding .912 save percentage and only allowed an average of 2.25 goals against.

The NHL training camp starts on September 17th, and the San Jose Sharks are hoping that their recent change in net will be the difference between a long playoff run and not, this upcoming NHL season. The Sportsbook.com online sportsbook currently has the San Jose Sharks favored at 14/1 betting odds to win the 2011 Stanley Cup.

Frank Thomas Retired Jersey

The Chicago White Sox retired the legendary Frank Thomas’s number #35 jersey yesterday and it was a heart warming affair. The “Big Hurt”, put the hurt on many teams during his illustrious 18 years career in the MLB. Frank Thomas spent 16 years playing in Chicago, and rounded out his career playing with the Oakland A’s and Toronto Blue Jays. Over his MLB career, Frank Thomas accrued 521 homeruns and 495 doubles. Dana White UFC

UFC President, Dana White, made a special appearance on Sports Center the other day to discuss the current state of the UFC and discussed certain fighters that fans just love to hate. When Dana White, one of original faces of MMA, was asked what he thought of Anderson Silva leading up to the Silva and Sonnen fight, White responded that he believed Silva was lazy and out of shape. However after being dominated the whole fight by Sonnen, Silva woke up and defeated Sonnen via submission. BJ Penn will now be looking to do the same thing against Frankie Edgar.

UFC 118

UFC 118 is only days away and UFC betting is starting to heat up. The main fight in UFC 118 will be the Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn rematch where Penn will be looking to redeem himself after losing the first time and Edgar will be looking to prove to UFC fans that his first time around victory was not by fluke. Online sportsbooks currently have BJ Penn favored to win the fight at -325 betting odds.

Tiger Woods Divorce

Tiger Tiger Woods Y’all, is now divorced y’all. If you didn’t see this divorce coming then chances are you probably won’t see yours coming either. Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren have officially finalized their divorce and the media and gossipers are having a field day.

Tiger Woods Divorce Settlement

Early reports have speculated that Elin Nordegren is set to receive $750 Million in the settlement from Tiger which is either a lot of money, or not enough... I haven’t decided yet. In addition to the cash, Nordegren also gets primary custody of the kids which would probably get in the way of Tiger’s orgies anyhow.

Who says your personal life can’t affect your professional career? Ever since the infamous “Elin + Golf Club + Cadillac Escalade” debacle, Tiger Woods has not won a single tournament. Despite being heavily favored by most online sportsbooks to win recent PGA tournaments, Woods has not even come close. Maybe now that he is free to go back to sexing around ways, he can go back to his old golf club swinging ways too.

The top threesome in the NBA sat down with reporters not too long ago to discuss the upcoming season and their plans to come together this season. Lebron James, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade are all looking to prove something this upcoming NBA season. Out of the trio, only Dwayne was been to the promise land.

When asked on his reaction to winning the Rogers Cup back to back, this is what Murray had to say,

"Winning a tournament is always great and this is the first time I've beat Roger and Rafa in the same tournament, which is probably the most pleasing thing thus far in my career. And I didn't drop a set against either of them -- so it's good for the confidence for the next few weeks.”

NHL Contracts

The NHL this week is taking a hard look at long term contracts after the Ilya Kovalchuk debacle. As you may have heard, the NHL rejected Ilya Kovalchuk’s 17-year, $100 million contract. Arbitrators agreed that the New Jersey Devils and Ilya Kovalchuk were trying to exploit a loophole in the NHL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Now, the NHL is reviewing all the major contracts from the last year.

Roberto Luongo Contract Details

The NHL has stated that the Vancouver Canuck’s contract signing of Roberto Luongo is under investigation. Roberto Luongo signed a 12 year contract which has him earning $10 million this upcoming season, and has him only earning $3 million in his last 3 years combined. The NHL believes that this heavily front-loaded contract is no different than what the New Jersey Devils and Ilya Kovalchuk were attempting to pull. Nobody has said what is going to come of all this, but rumors are speculating that Ilya Kovalchuk may sign the same exact deal with a Russian team in the KHL which would be detrimental to the NHL.

Karl Malone Hall of Fame

The NBA just recently announced the induction of Karl Malone into the NBA Hall of Fame. The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame is located in Springfield Massachusetts. In his career, Karl Malone, scored 36,928 points and pulled down 14,968 rebounds during his impressive 19-year playing career. If it wasn’t for Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls, Karl Malone would have won a few championships too. Also, if Kobe Bryant would have not played like a spoiled brat, Karl Malone could have won a championship with the Lakers too.

NBA News

Other NBA Hall of Fame inductees include Scottie Pippen who has recently been trying to make his way back into the NBA as a player. In addition to lame attempts by Pippen to join an NBA team, Pippen was recently caught trying to make a bet with Nick VanGundy that the Miami Heat would not even win 72 games this upcoming NBA season. As you can imagine, these types of negative haven’t won Pippen many points by current NBA players.

Shaq Celtics

Just when you thought it was safe to leave your home, Shaquille O’Neal signs with the Boston Celtics for not 1, but 2 years! In a move that pretty much came out of nowhere, the Boston Celtics signed Shaq for 2 NBA betting seasons. When I first heard of the news, I had to check the date to make sure it was not April 1st.

Just a few days ago Shaq was talking with European basketball teams in hopes of moving over there to play basketball, but then out of nowhere, with no rumors or speculations in place, Shaq Diesel signed with the Boston Celtics. Prior to the signing, many NBA betting followers believed it would be a Miami Heat vs. LA Lakers final, but now people are starting to believe that the Miami Heat may have trouble getting out of the Eastern Conference with a tougher looking Boston Celtics lineup.

NBA Finals Betting Odds

Below you will find NBA Finals betting odds brought to you by the Bodog.com online sportsbook for our top 3 picks for this upcoming NBA season.

Tiger Woods News

Tiger Woods is looking like an expired Russian hooker these days whose best years appear behind him. It seems that in just over 1 year, Tiger Woods has aged 10. Honestly I believe that Tiger Woods is an amazing athlete and it’s disappointing to see his fall from grace, a fall that had nothing to do with cheating in golf, steroids, or only playing on courses that are to his advantage. No, unfortunately Tiger Wood’s fall from the top was because of something he did in his personal life which the public and media are crucifying him for.

Tiger Woods Betting Odds

Next up for Tiger is the USPGA Championship 2010, Whistling Straits, Kohler, Wisconsin. This tournament will begin on Thursday, August 12th. The Sportsbook.com online sportsbook currently has Tiger Woods favored at 12/1 betting odds to win, behind Phil Mickelson who is sitting at 11/1 betting odds. Say what you want about this steroid infused crybaby, but this is a very impressive feat. My hat goes off to both Rodriguez and the guy who puts the steroids needle in his buttocks. But in all seriousness (no pun intended), this is a very big accomplishment and I am impressed. It takes more than strength to hit a homerun, which is what the use of steroids only provides you with. Steroids do not increase your concentration, accuracy or ability to read the pitcher, so being the youngest player to ever hit 600 homeruns in the majors is huge.

The Bodog.com online sportsbook currently has A-Rod and the Yankees favored at +185 betting odds to win the World Series which almost feels like a lock right now.

NBA Schedule Released

Although we are more than 4 months away from Christmas, I feel that with the recent NBA betting schedule being released today, Christmas came early! Only key nationally broadcasted schedules were released, however those are only the games I care about to be honest.

NBA Opening Week

The first game of the season will have the Boston Celtics’s top 3 versus the Miami Heat’s top 3. This game will be played in Boston on Tuesday, October 26th. You have to love the way the NBA customizes their schedule, instead of just letting a robot do it.

NBA Christmas Day Games

If today felt like Christmas for NBA betting fans, then actual Christmas day is going to feel like Heaven for any NBA online betting fan looking for some action. The NBA has announced 5 games will be played on Christmas day and the game that we have all been waiting for, Lakers versus the Heat will be the third game of the day after the Celtics and Magic game. Talk about 12 straight hours of NBA betting action!

NHL Offseason Moves

This NHL offseason we saw a lot of different trades and signings that are sure to give the NHL a completely new look come October. Below you will find our review of the best NHL moves this offseason.

Vancouver Canucks Sign Dan Hamhuis

Although a lot of teams were going after Hamhuis this offseason, who was an unsung hero in Nashville, Hamhuis opted to go with the Vancouver Canucks, which is also the same province he grew up in. Hamhuis didn’t take the biggest contract offered, he chose the team that he thinks he can make the biggest difference on which means a lot if you are a Vancouver Canucks fan.

The Sportsbook.com online sportsbook currently has the Vancouver Canucks favored at 12/1 betting odds to win the Stanley Cup.

Montreal Canadiens Sign Carey Price

For the last couple of season the Montreal Canadiens had no real #1 goalie. Two coaches and two general managers later, they have decided to put all their eggs in Price’s basket once again, letting Jaroslav Halak sign with the St. Louis Blues. Although Halak had better numbers last NHL season and was instrumental in the Canadiens Eastern Conference run, the Canadiens believe that Price is their future. If you are a Montreal Canadiens fan, you are most likely very nervous.

The Sportsbook.com online sportsbook currently has the Montreal Canadiens favored at 25/1 betting odds to win the Stanley Cup.

Kerry Wood Traded to Yankees

Kerry Wood, not to be confused with Carrie Underwood who is currently shooting a movie based on Women’s Softball, has been traded to the New York Yankees from the Cleveland Indians. The Indians have until October 15th to decide whether they want $500,000 or a player to be named later for Wood. Kerry Wood is a right handed 33 year old pitcher known for his quiet temperament and fastball. Kerry Wood is currently getting paid $10.5 Million a season, however he has recently been sidelined due to a blister on his right-hand index finger. Reports have yet to confirm whether the injury was sports related.

New York Yankees Betting Odds

The Kerry Wood trade marks the 3rd deal done by the Yankees in less than 24 hours which clearly shows that the Yankees are looking to make another run for the World Series championship. The Yankees are currently sitting at +185 betting odds to win the World Series as found at the Bodog.com online sportsbook.

Roy Oswalt Traded to Phillies

It has just been confirmed that Roy Oswalt, of the former Houston Astros, has been traded to the city of brotherly love to play for the Philadelphia Phillies. The trade consists of Oswalt’s no-trade clause being waived by the Astros and Oswalt going to the Phillies in exchange for J.A. Happ and two prospects, Anthony Gose and Jonathan Villar. Oswalt played 10 seasons for the Houston Astros and is finding the trade bittersweet to say the least. Oswalt, who is 32 years of age, is currently guaranteed $23 Million in wages through 2011.

MLB World Series Betting Odds

After the official trade announcement was made, the Philadelphia Phillies betting odds to win the MLB World Series went down to +1500 from +2000. Online sportsbooks are betting that with Oswalt’s addition to the Phillies already extensive pitching unit, they have a great chance to win the MLB World Series.

The New York Yankees (+185) and Atlanta Braves (+300) round out the top 2 teams with the best MLB World Series betting odds.

McGrady and Shaq Signings

Currently Tracy McGrady and Shaq O’Neal are sitting ducks waiting for a team to save them. Tracy McGrady previously made it known that he would like to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers; however the Lakers did not show any interest at all. Even if McGrady was willing to sign for a song and a dance, the Lakers are not willing to risk changing their chemistry.

On the other side, you have Shaq who says he has another 4-5 seasons in him, the only sad thing is that most NBA teams believe he should have retired last season. Other than selling tickets, can either McGrady or Shaq help a NBA team win?

NBA Betting Odds

Although many still believe that McGrady still has some talent left, and would be a great player off the bench, the same cannot be said for Shaq. The team that may want McGrady is the Orlando Magic. Currently the Orlando Magic are sitting at 11/1 betting odds to win the NBA finals after a great run made last year. Many believe that they are only missing a tiny link to make it to the next step, and I believe McGrady can be that link.

Chris Paul Staying Put in New Orleans

Just when you thought Lebron James, “The Decision” was over; now rumors are speculating that it’s still having ripple effects on other NBA players as well, including New Orleans Hornets Guard, Chris Paul.

Just a few days after Lebron James’ public decision to sign with the Miami Heat, Chris Paul fired his agent and hired Leon Rose, who is coincidently also Lebron James’ agent. Once Paul hired Rose, rumors surfaced that Paul wanted a trade, even though he has two more years remaining with the New Orleans Hornets. As you can imagine the Hornets, just like the Cavaliers, would be rattled if the face of their franchise departed. This is why the Hornets held an emergency meeting with Paul on Monday to discuss their future.

New Orleans Hornets Betting Odds

With Paul staying put, the New Orleans Hornets are currently favored at 40/1 betting odds to win the NBA Finals next season. Unfortunately the only way Paul will stay in New Orleans is if the ownership brings talented players to him that can help Paul win on any given night. Whether the Hornets go through with their promise to Paul of bringing in talented players to play with him remains to be unseen. We’ll find out soon enough though!

College Football Betting

The College Football betting season is just around the corner and you know what that means right? It means that a lot more pictures of hot College Football fans will be hitting the internet. It also means that this will be a great opportunity to make some extra cash betting online.

Sports Betting Lines

In College Football, betting lines are no different than in other sports, however the home team advantages are a lot stronger. For example, let’s say the Clemson Tigers are going into to San Diego to face the San Diego State Aztecs. Let’s also say that the Tigers are favored by 12 points to win the game. This would be a great bet to take the Aztecs as underdogs on pointspread betting because the home team advantage is so big in College Football games that it’s the equivalent of at least a field goal in my opinion. So I'm not saying that the home team advantage is so great that the Aztecs have a chance at winning this game, I’m just saying that they will undoubtedly cover the pointspread.
Keep in mind this online betting strategy only works when the home team is the underdog between 10-15 points. Good luck and bet in good health friends!

NHL Says No To Kovalchuk Deal

Well I guess there is a first for everything. In a time where the only proposed deals we ever see rejected are in fantasy pools; the NHL made a bold move and rejected the New Jersey Devils deal to sign Ilya Kovalchuk to a 17 year deal worth over $100 million. Just when everybody assumed the deal was complete, out of nowhere the NHL comes out and says “No!”

Online Sports Betting

When you take part in sports betting online, it pays to follow what is going on in sports news, and more specifically, contract negotiations. Although the New Jersey Devils held a news conference Tuesday announcing the 17 year deal, the NHL ultimately holds all the cards and can vito a decision at any time. The structure of the deal was heavily front loaded, with Kovalchuk only making $550,000 in each of the last 5 years of the contract which most likely Kovalchuk wouldn’t have played out. The NHL is claiming that the New Jersey Devils have found a loophole in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) which restricts the amount of money a team can play a player for 1 season. If you take part in online fantasy pools or online sports betting, now would be a good time on placing NHL future wagers on certain teams making or not making the playoffs based on what deals are happening in the off season.

Ilya Kovalchuk Signs 17-Year Deal

No folks you have not misread the title, nor has the length of the deal been confused with Ilya Kovalchuk’s jersey number; but the New Jersey Devils have actually signed Ilya Kovalchuk to a 17 year deal worth over $100 Million. Kovalchuk is currently 27 years of age and if he plays the full length of this contract, he will be playing until he is 44 years old.

New Jersey Devils Cup Predictions

Currently the Bodog.com online sportsbook has future betting odds at 15/1 for the New Jersey Devils to win the Stanley Cup next season. My betting predictions are that the Devils will make the playoffs, but signing one guy who can only score in the regular season is not going to be enough to go far into the playoffs. For the last two decades the New Jersey Devils have been known for their defensive play so a major signing like this for an offensive player is a bit out of character. Who knows, maybe the Devils are hoping that Ilya can convince Lebron James and Chris Bosh to also sign with the Devils.

Only time will tell how this big signing pans out, but it should be fun watching!

George Steinbrenner Passes Away

Most of you know George Steinbrenner as the Yankees big boss, whether you know this from following the Yankees or if you are just an avid Seinfeld viewer. George Steinbrenner was born in 1930 and was 80 years of age when he passed away from a massive heart attack.

There are many stories that come to mind when I think of the Yankees owner. Back in the day if the Yankees had lost a couple of games in a row, or their star players were underperforming, Steinbrenner would cuss them out in public, then cuss out the reporters who were reporting the story, and then cuss out his head coaches. Basically there was a long pattern of cussing and threats of moving the Yankees or trading players for land when they were losing games. Whatever Steinbrenner’s ownership methods were, they obviously worked.

It is no fluke that the New York Yankees are one of the, if not thee most recognizable and successful teams in professional sports and that is mostly due to their architect, George Steinbrenner, also referred to as, “The Boss”. The New York Yankees are currently favored at 3/1 betting odds to win the World Series as per the Bodog.com online sportsbook which I hope they do for George.

Derek Fisher & Los Angeles Lakers

In less controversial news in the NBA this week Derek Fisher has decided to resign with the Los Angeles Lakers, even though he was offered multiple offers from other NBA teams for more money, and longer contract terms. Fisher has reportedly signed a 3 year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers worth a littler under $11 million. Although Lebron James will be spending over $11 million just on his PR campaign alone this upcoming NBA season, this is still a lot of money for Fisher who deserves every penny of it.

Future Betting Lines

An untapped online betting sector is Future Betting Lines. A lot of people either don’t know about the possibilities of betting on future lines, or they just don’t think it is worth it. If you look back at the last few years in all of professional sports, the majority of the championships were won by teams that were favorites to win them prior to the start of the betting season. With that logic, if you were to bet online on the top 2 favorites in each sport (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL), you are bound to hit at least 2-3 and with payout percentages so high on future betting lines, whatever money you lost on the losing bets, would be more than covered by your wins. Do you smell money, I do!

NCAA Online Betting

I know it is a bit early to be talking about NCAA March Madness online betting but today the NCAA just announced how the upcoming March Madness NCAA basketball schedule is going to look with the inclusion of 4 more teams, making the tournament from a 64 team tournament to a 68 team tournament. This will be the first time ever in the NCAA’s history that this tournament will have 68 teams participating.

March Madness Betting

The "First Four" team games will be played either the Tuesday or Wednesday after Selection Sunday. The winners of the four games will then advance to what will now be called the "second round" on either Thursday or Friday. The new third round with 16 games will be Saturday and Sunday. The rest of the tournament also known as the Sweet 16 and the Elite 8, will remain as they have been in past years. If you have a good feeling now on who is going to win the tournament, you can go to the Bodog.com online sportsbook and place a future online bet.

2010 World Cup Champions

To no surprise, the 2010 World Cup has been won by Spain today, 1-0 in extra time. However what was surprising was the great game played by the Netherlands who had more than their fair share of scoring chances. If anybody bet on Netherlands on the point spread is probably rolling in a pile of money, however if you missed out betting on this game, here is a look at upcoming online sports betting events.

Online Sports Betting

Although I myself am not a big soccer fan, betting online for these games made me a lot more interested in the results than your average fan. Now that the World Cup is over, I feel like a pianist without a piano.

With that said, here are some upcoming online sports betting events that you can get your kicks from:

Baseball All-Star Game
UFC 118
College Football Betting
NFL Football Betting

The 2010 World Cup is upon us and soccer fans from all around the world have waited 4 years for this day and after tomorrow they will be waiting another 4 years.

Although Spain and the Netherlands are great soccer nations, in between afternoon siestas in Spain and the Red Light District in Amsterdam, players have never been disciplined enough to win on the grandest scale of them all.

World Cup Betting Lines

It is no surprise that Spain is currently the online betting favorite with their betting line currently sitting at -111 on Moneyline betting.

Lebron James Goes to the Miami Heat

Its official like a referee whistle, Lebron James is “going to South Beach to play with the Miami Heat”. Kudos to Lebron James for making his decision based on winning a championship, not for the money. Although many Cleveland Cavs fans are upset with the news, they have to respect what he did for their city which he still calls home.

Sports Betting Futures

Immediately after Lebron James confirmed where he will be playing basketball in the Fall, sports betting futures on which NBA team is going to win the NBA Finals next year drastically changes. Now that Lebron James will be joining both Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, you have to bet on the Heat to be heavy online betting favorites for next year.
The Miami Heat betting future wagers are currently listed at 7/4 to win the NBA Finals, whereas the Los Angeles Lakers are sitting at 11/4. For a complete list of future sports betting odds, visit Sportsbook.com and receive great signup bonuses and cash back when you bet with Sportsbook.com!

Lebron James: The Decision

Today’s the day that Lebron James announces his decision Live on ESPN. At first when I heard of the big press conference sort of deal and all the hoopla around this televised decision, I thought it was shameful. However now I’ve heard reports that Lebron James will be hosting the press conference at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in Connecticut New York. I’ve also heard rumors that all proceeds from the sponsorship of the telecast will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America which is really big of Lebron James.

NBA Betting Odds

Immediately after Lebron James makes his decision on where he is going to play next season, NBA betting odds are going to dramatically change. Lebron James’s decision on where he is going to play next season is so important that it may even have an effect of Global Warming.

Current betting odds have Lebron going to the Miami Heat, New York Knicks or Chicago Bulls. My heart goes out to Cleveland Cavs fans as there isn’t a snowball’s chance in Hell that Lebron will sign with the Cavs.

UFC Online Betting

These days it is not likely that we can look forward to a fight that has two equally matched heavyweight contenders; however this upcoming UFC 116 will be different. Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin are due to battle on July 3rd and online sportsbooks are predicting this to be one of the most watched heavyweight fights since Tyson and Holyfield. UFC betting lines have already been posted.

UFC Betting Odds

Although Brock Lesnar is much taller than Shane Carwin, Carwin has one full glove size bigger hands which he has used to knockout his last 12 opponents all in the first round. Carwin goes into this bout as the underdog, even though he is undefeated lifetime. Online sportsbooks currently have Carwin at +150 betting odds, whereas Brock Lesnar is currently the favorite at -135 betting odds. Although Carwin goes into this match as the more experienced fighter, there is no denying Lesnar’s size and speed which is a combination of attributes that we have not seen in heavyweight UFC fighters in quite some time.

If you are looking for a great online sportsbook to place your UFC online bets, check out the Bodog.com online sportsbook and get a 10% signup bonus when you signup.

Lebron James – Destination Unknown

It’s almost as if Lebron James of the soon to be ‘former’ Cleveland Cavaliers has boarded a flight operated by Northwest Airlines with the same two pilots who fell asleep at the controls, because nobody has any idea where James is going to land next NBA betting season.

Any online betting player who can sit there and tell you they know with certainty where Lebron James will be playing basketball next year is talking out of their arse. I wouldn’t be surprised if even Lebron James didn’t know where he wanted to sign next year.

Betting Online Predictions

Only Dion Warwick’s psychic hotline can truly predict the exact team Lebron James will play for next NBA season, however I feel that I can narrow it down to at least 2 NBA teams.

Chicago Bulls – Online betting insiders are predicting that James will sign with the Chicago Bulls who currently have a great supporting cast, but no identity. Rumors have also been speculated that Phil Jackson will also join James in Chicago as their head coach.

Miami Heat – Many online sportsbooks are betting that Lebron and Chris Bosh will both sign with the Miami Heat and join Dwayne Wade next year at hopes of bringing home a NBA Finals championship.

World Cup Online Betting

Admittedly I did not start following this 2010 World Cup online betting until just a few days ago when the games started to heat up, and teams actually started to score some goals; making betting on the World Cup a lot easier and more fun for me.

Online Betting Odds

Currently Brazil and Argentina are favored as betting favorites to win the 2010 World Cup. Betting odds for Brazil to win the World Cup are currently set at 5/2 and betting odds on Argentina winning the 2010 World Cup are currently set at 15/4.

If you haven’t jumped aboard the online betting bandwagon, now’s the time to start because picking World Cup winners now is a lot easier than betting on any other sport. Basically all you need to do is find a great online sportsbook like Bodog, create an account, and then just look for two teams that are favored to win the World Cup, and then make a parlay wager on both of them to won their opening round games. Online etting is actually just that easy!

NHL Free Agency Online Betting

Unfortunately July 1st only comes once a year, because it has to be the most anticipated day of both the NHL and NBA betting offseason. I’ve previously articled the melee surrounding NBA free agents Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, but the NHL has just as many superstars looking for new homes as of July 1st.

As of July 1st, there are a couple of big name NHL players who I am following really closely that will be game changers next NHL betting season.

Online Sports Betting

Ilya Kovalchuk would be a great addition to any team. In recent years as Ilya Kovalchuk has gotten older, he has matured quite well but his offensive talents have not diminished one bit. Currently the LA Kings are looking like heavy online betting favorites to sign Kovalchuk.

Dan Hamuis is currently being rumored to sign with the Vancouver Canucks who are in dire need of a solid defenseman. The Canucks poor defense caused by key injuries cost them big in last year’s online betting playoffs; leaving their defense opening wider than Brittney Spears.

In any case whatever happens, remember to place all your online sports betting picks at Sportsbook.com where betting is fun and easy!
